I am honored to serve as your president for the next two years. A big thank you to Jonathan Hill for all his hard work and dedication during his tenure as president.
This year marks The Barnacle Society's 25th anniversary and we need to CELEBRATE! So this summer, your board will be very busy planning a party or two, as well as working on our website, on outreach programs, maritime projects, and getting The Commodore's Story reprinted.
The Barnacle is such a special place for me - whether I'm at a moolight concert, a yoga class, or sitting on the porch staring at the bay - the stress just floats away. I am transported back to a gentler time, leaving the pressures of modern Miami behind.
I am always surprised when someone says they have never been to The Barnacle, especially when they live in Coconut Grove. On of my goals as president will be to increase community awareness, and you can help. Invite your co-workers for a lunchtime picnic in the park (there's a breeze even in summer). Bring your neighbors for a Sunday Brunch and some Frisbee. And be sure to kick off your Fourth of July festivities here with hot dogs, hamburgers, music and lots of activities for the whole family.
Share your love of The Barnacle. Let's not keep it a secret anymore!
