El Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an important holiday in Mexico for remembering deceased loved ones. Mexican families welcome the souls of their deceased loved ones back for a loving reunion, and our beloved pets arrive to visit us first on October 27th. They stay with us through November 2nd, the big day when they celebrate with skull parades, ofrendas, altares, and lots of food and music. By November 3rd, the altars are removed.
We'd love for you to join us Saturday, November 2nd, as Gueyita Mexicana and Equipaws Pet Services host a special night to honor and love the pets we've lost in this beautiful tradition. You're encouraged to be a part of the altar by adding your pet's name to it.
Bring your pups and meet us in front of The Historic Barnacle State Park in Coconut Grove; we'll be there from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Let's share our memories through this community altar over light bites and drinks.
We're grateful to Adriana of Gueyita Mexicana for sharing her culture’s traditions! She'll be bringing pan de muerto for us to share, and we'll be bringing Mexican-style hot chocolate. More details to come!
We look forward to seeing you!
